Urgent Verification for Subhadra Yojana Beneficiaries

Bhubaneswar: On Friday, Odisha's Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida urged officials to finalize the field verification of pending applicants for the Subhadra Yojana by July 25. This is crucial to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the fifth installment of the scheme in time for Raksha Bandhan in August.

During a review meeting, Parida emphasized the need for daily monitoring of the verification process and the swift resolution of outstanding cases, noting that approximately 3.53 lakh applications are still pending.

As the head of the Women and Child Development Department, Parida mentioned that block-level committees will assess the reports from field officials before sending the eligible cases to district and state authorities. The verification is expected to conclude by July 25.

She also encouraged applicants whose cases are delayed due to incomplete e-KYC, bank account verification, or biometric authentication to complete these requirements promptly.

Officials reported that the state has already disbursed over Rs 20,648 crore to more than 1 crore women beneficiaries through four installments of the Subhadra Yojana.

Official statistics indicate that 1.15 crore applications have been submitted under the scheme, with 3.17 lakh received in the 2026-27 financial year. After thorough scrutiny, 1.02 crore women were initially recognized as potential beneficiaries for the upcoming fifth installment.

Following verification by district administrations, which confirmed the passing of 5,277 beneficiaries, the current list of eligible beneficiaries for the fifth installment stands at 1.01 crore.

In the meeting, Parida also reviewed various preparations, including the activation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), biometric e-KYC, field inquiries, NPCI mapping, payment file preparation, and coordination with banks. She instructed officials to ensure the scheme's implementation is timely, transparent, and free of errors through effective collaboration among field staff, departments, technical agencies, and banking institutions.
