Investment Outreach to the UAE
Bhubaneswar: In preparation for a three-day investment outreach in the UAE from September 9 to 11, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the state's ambition to foster export-driven industrial growth by attracting international investors and enhancing global business connections.
CM Majhi emphasized Odisha's strategic intent to draw foreign capital, bolster export-focused industries, and forge new investment and business collaborations with the UAE.
The outreach event in Abu Dhabi and Dubai is anticipated to gather UAE investors, prominent fund managers, financial institutions, industry leaders, and Indian business representatives to explore investment opportunities, technological partnerships, industrial collaborations, exports, and value-chain enhancements in Odisha.
Majhi remarked, "Odisha possesses a robust industrial base and significant potential to emerge as a key hub for export-oriented and value-added manufacturing. Our outreach in the UAE aims to link Odisha with global capital, technology, markets, and strategic partners."
He further stated, "We are committed to establishing enduring partnerships that can revolutionize Odisha's industrial landscape, fortify value chains, and generate new opportunities for our citizens."
State Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain highlighted, "We are showcasing a diverse array of investment prospects, ranging from metallurgy, metals, and downstream industries to ports, logistics, food and seafood exports, rare earths, shipbuilding, chemicals, and petrochemicals."
Swain noted that the state is particularly interested in investments that enhance value addition, promote exports, adopt advanced technologies, and transition to higher-value industries.
He added that the upcoming engagement in the UAE will target sectors where Odisha has established strengths and considerable growth potential.
An official statement outlined the targeted sectors, including metallurgy and downstream industries, food and seafood exports, port-based industrial and logistics parks, shipbuilding parks, dedicated rare earth corridors, slurry pipeline infrastructure, and chemical and petrochemical parks.
With its strategic position along India's eastern coast, Odisha is positioning its ports and related industrial infrastructure as pivotal elements for the next phase of industrial advancement.
The statement indicated, "Port-led development is anticipated to create substantial opportunities for large-scale investments, integrated manufacturing, logistics, exports, and global supply-chain connections."
The outreach will also emphasize the transition from Odisha's traditional industrial sectors to new-generation, technology-driven, and higher-value industries.
The goal is to establish integrated value chains within the state while linking its production capabilities with global markets, according to a senior official.
In Abu Dhabi, the delegation will engage with leading investment institutions, fund managers, sovereign investment platforms, and UAE-based organizations. Discussions will revolve around investment opportunities, attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), industrial partnerships, and long-term capital involvement.
The Dubai agenda will include targeted interactions with industry leaders, UAE organizations, metals and downstream companies, logistics and infrastructure stakeholders, and other potential investors.
Sector-specific roundtables and one-on-one meetings will offer a platform to present particular investment opportunities and understand the needs of global businesses seeking to expand in India.
The delegation will also connect with the Indian business community in the UAE, including professionals and business leaders who can significantly contribute to strengthening India-UAE economic ties and facilitating international business connections for Odisha.
