Significant Financial Aid for Farmers in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: On Friday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the distribution of over ₹833 crore as the fifth tranche of financial support to more than 41 lakh farmers under the CM-KISAN initiative.

The Chief Minister highlighted that all eligible recipients, primarily small, marginal, and landless farmers, as well as those from particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs), received ₹2,000 each for the Rabi season directly into their bank accounts through the direct benefit transfer (DBT) system.

Majhi further asserted that there have been no reported farmer suicides in Odisha over the past two years since the BJP assumed power.

He stated, "In the last two years, no farmer suicides have occurred in Odisha, as farming families benefit from ₹10,000 annually through the PM-KISAN and CM-KISAN schemes. Their financial challenges have been alleviated, with the state also offering a minimum support price (MSP) of ₹3,100 per quintal for paddy."
