Raipur/Bilaspur, April 22: A new flight service is set to enhance regional connectivity by linking Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh directly with the national capital, Delhi, starting on May 3.

Alliance Air will operate this service, which will take off every Sunday from Bilasa Devi Kevat Airport, addressing a long-standing request from locals and travelers for direct access to New Delhi.

The flight is scheduled to leave Bilaspur at 6:45 PM, arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi by 9:25 PM, providing a convenient evening travel option for passengers.

This new route is anticipated to facilitate travel for professionals, students, and families who often visit the national capital for various reasons, including work and education.

Moreover, it signifies a significant advancement in positioning Bilaspur on India's aviation map. The demand for a direct flight to Delhi has been a persistent issue, with local communities, business leaders, and political figures advocating for better air connectivity.

The introduction of this service is viewed as a response to these demands, effectively linking Chhattisgarh’s cultural center with the country’s political and administrative hub.

Bilaspur, recognized for its educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and burgeoning commercial activities, is expected to benefit from this flight, enhancing its growth prospects and integration into national networks.

Alliance Air’s initiative to launch this weekly service aligns with the government’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, which aims to make air travel more affordable and accessible for smaller cities.

While the service will initially operate weekly, industry experts suggest that the response from passengers could lead to an increase in flight frequency in the future.

The announcement has been met with enthusiasm in Bilaspur, with residents hopeful that this new flight will not only save time but also promote tourism and business interactions.

As the inaugural flight approaches, there is a palpable sense of excitement that this long-awaited connection will herald a new chapter of connectivity for the city and its inhabitants.
