Mohan Charan Majhi Launches Major Development Initiatives in Sambalpur

Significant Development Projects Unveiled


Sambalpur: On Saturday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the launch of 25 development initiatives totaling over Rs 948 crore in Sambalpur, reaffirming his administration's dedication to advancing the western Odisha district.


During his two-day visit to Sambalpur, Majhi commenced his day with prayers at the Samaleswari Temple, followed by the inauguration of 25 new e-bus services for the city.


He also opened a state-of-the-art bus terminal for the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) in Ainthapali, highlighting a budget allocation of Rs 238.14 crore for the terminal's upkeep and bus services over the next decade.


At a public gathering, Majhi officially launched 25 projects valued at over Rs 948 crore.


This included the inauguration of 14 projects worth more than Rs 57 crore and the laying of foundation stones for 11 projects with a combined cost exceeding Rs 890 crore.


The projects encompass various sectors such as road and bridge construction, health facilities, warehouses, bus terminals, girls' hostels, tourism, drinking water supply, and other civic amenities.


In his address, Majhi emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing development in Sambalpur, asserting that the district's advancement is crucial for Odisha's vision of equitable growth and effective governance.


He praised Sambalpur as one of the state's most picturesque cities and expressed optimism that its beauty would be further enhanced upon project completion.


Majhi mentioned that riverfront development around the Samaleswari Temple, a revered 'Shakti Peeth', is being executed in two phases with a total investment of Rs 316 crore.


He noted that Rs 160 crore is allocated for the Mahanadi riverfront development from Mandalia to Chaunrapur.


This initiative will feature parks, open gyms, selfie spots, bathing ghats, 'aarti' ghats, shopping complexes, restrooms, and parking facilities, transforming the riverfront into a key attraction for both locals and tourists.


Majhi pointed out that industrial growth had previously been limited to certain areas, but his government is now striving for inclusive development to ensure that all districts benefit from new industries.


Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, a local representative, stated that the BJP government is diligently working to secure Sambalpur's progress.


Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik remarked that the 'double-engine government' is delivering on its promise of 'double development' by ensuring that growth reaches every district and village.


The event was attended by notable figures including Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra and former MLA Nauri Naik.
