Potential Peace Agreement Between Iran and the US

Dubai/Washington: On Saturday, Iran indicated that it might finalize a peace agreement with the United States shortly, although it rejected claims from Pakistan, the mediator, that the signing would occur within the next day.

On Friday, both the US and Iran hinted at nearing an agreement to conclude three months of conflict. A US official mentioned that both parties had reached a consensus on the text, with expectations for an initial agreement to be signed soon.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Saturday that a framework for the peace deal had been established, and Islamabad is preparing for an electronic signing, which will be followed by technical discussions next week. He expressed optimism, stating, “We are closer to a peace deal than ever before.”

While Sharif suggested that the initial agreement could be signed on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei later advised caution regarding the timeline. He was quoted by state media saying, “We will have to wait and see about the exact date of the signing of the memorandum of understanding, although it will not be tomorrow.” He added that while the possibility of an agreement in the coming days exists, caution is necessary due to the other side's hesitance.
