IndiGo Announces New Fuel Charges for Domestic and International Flights Starting April 2026

IndiGo has revealed a new structure for fuel charges that will take effect from April 2, 2026, for both domestic and international flights. The airline's decision comes in light of significant increases in fuel prices, with adjustments based on travel distances. Domestic routes will see charges ranging from Rs 275 to Rs 950, while international routes will have varying fees based on regions. IndiGo's Revised Fuel Charges


IndiGo has announced plans to adjust its fuel charges for both domestic and international flights, effective for all new bookings starting April 2, 2026. According to the airline, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has reported a staggering increase of over 130% in fuel prices month-on-month for the region. In response, the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and the Ministry of Civil Aviation have opted to implement only a partial increase of 25% for domestic operations to support travelers and the aviation sector.


With this update, IndiGo has recalibrated its domestic fuel charges based on travel distances. From 00:01 hrs on April 2, 2026, the following revised fuel charges will apply:


Revised Fuel Charges


The fuel charges are structured according to the distance flown. For routes measuring between 0 and 500 kilometers, the charge will be Rs 275. For distances from 501 to 1,000 kilometers, the fee will be Rs 400. Routes spanning 1,001 to 1,500 kilometers will incur a charge of Rs 600, while those between 1,501 and 2,000 kilometers will be charged Rs 800. For distances exceeding 2,000 kilometers, the applicable fuel charge will be Rs 950.


Furthermore, for international flights, the airline noted that aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices have more than doubled recently, significantly affecting operational costs on these routes. All international bookings made from April 2, 2026, will also reflect the updated fuel charges, categorized by region and distance. For the Indian Subcontinent, routes up to 500 kilometers will incur a charge of Rs 900, while those over 500 kilometers will be charged Rs 2,500. In the GCC and Middle East, routes up to 2,000 kilometers will have a fuel charge of Rs 3,000, and distances beyond that will be Rs 5,000. For Southeast Asia and China, the charges will be Rs 3,500 for routes up to 2,000 kilometers and Rs 5,000 for longer distances. Routes to Africa will carry a flat fee of Rs 5,000, while travel to Greece and Turkey will be charged ₹7,500. Finally, routes to the UK and other European destinations (excluding Greece and Turkey) will attract a fuel charge of Rs 10,000.
