New Delhi, April 6: The collaborative research and development initiative between India and the UK is pivotal for enhancing industrial sustainability. A senior government official emphasized that advancements in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure are essential for the swift adoption of electric mobility and the establishment of a future-ready ecosystem in India.

Rajesh Kumar Pathak, Secretary of the Technology Development Board, made these remarks following the signing of an agreement with Scharge Private Limited. This partnership aims to create a next-generation EV charging solution tailored for commercial fleets and depot operations as part of the India-UK Collaborative R&D Programme, according to an official announcement.

As part of this agreement, Scharge Private Limited, a rising Indian EV technology firm, will develop an innovative EV charger charge controller featuring a patented automated cable management system in collaboration with Albright Product Design Limited from the UK.

This comprehensive approach is intended to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and user-friendliness in high-demand EV charging scenarios.

The new solution incorporates a motorized overhead cable management system specifically designed for fleet applications, which simplifies charging processes by minimizing manual handling, reducing cable wear, and improving user convenience.

It is compatible with existing AC Type-2 EV chargers and aims to optimize charging turnaround times while ensuring a safe and organized infrastructure in depot environments.

By addressing issues such as cable management, equipment protection, and workflow efficiency, this technology is anticipated to significantly boost the productivity of EV charging depots.

Moreover, it enhances safety standards by mitigating risks associated with cable damage, vandalism, and operational hazards.

Scharge Pvt Limited specializes in advanced power electronics and smart charging systems. Through this initiative, the company seeks to bolster domestic capabilities in EV charging technologies while facilitating scalable and sustainable infrastructure for the expanding electric mobility sector, the statement highlighted.
