Positive Outlook for Hospitality and Glass Industries

The announcement of a peace agreement between the US and Iran has sparked optimism in the hospitality and tourism sectors, as well as in energy-dependent industries like glass manufacturing. In an exclusive interview, Sonavi Kaicker, CEO of Neemrana Hotels, and Suraj Mehta, Chief Strategy Officer of Hindusthan National Glass & Industries Limited, shared their insights on the potential effects of this deal.

When asked about the implications for tourism, Sonavi emphasized the psychological impact on travelers. She noted that many individuals travel for various reasons and prefer not to face disruptions such as flight cancellations or being stranded. The recent tensions in the Middle East had led to a noticeable decline in inbound travel, particularly as India entered its off-season during the summer months of April, May, and June. However, she expressed hope that a resolution would restore traveler confidence, as fluctuations in fuel prices and connectivity issues had previously hindered travel.

Suraj echoed this sentiment regarding the glass manufacturing sector, highlighting the historical significance of the peace deal. He explained that the crisis in West Asia had caused significant spikes in gas and fuel prices, directly affecting the glass industry, which operates continuously. The operational challenges faced during the crisis were substantial, as their furnaces rely on fuels like furnace oil, RLNG, and LPG. Suraj remains optimistic that the resolution will lead to improved conditions for the manufacturing sector as well.
