Disciplinary Measures at HDFC Bank

HDFC Bank, the largest private lender in India, has issued warning letters and imposed a monetary fine of Rs 1 lakh on three senior executives, including the CEO and CFO. This action was taken following an internal investigation into the bank's deposit agreements with the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). The review revealed that the involved employees had committed "business overreach," but there was no evidence of any malicious intent. This disciplinary action aligns with the suggestions made by a Special Disciplinary Committee of Independent Directors, which assessed the bank's deposit mobilization strategies with the state-owned agency during the years 2017 and 2021.
