The initiative includes a cost-sharing model where the government will cover half of the expenses. Additionally, higher blending targets for CBG production are on the horizon, with inter-ministerial discussions already taking place. Support for City Gas Distribution Companies

The government is preparing to extend financial assistance to city gas distribution (CGD) firms for the establishment of pipeline infrastructure. The Oil Ministry is currently working on this initiative, taking into account the potential impacts stemming from the crisis in West Asia. According to sources, the financial backing will facilitate the connection of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plants to the CGD network.

A detailed plan, estimated to cost between Rs 5,000 and 6,000 crore, is being developed to encourage CBG production and accelerate the development of pipeline infrastructure. Reports indicate that the government intends to cover 50% of the costs associated with the pipeline infrastructure, with CGD companies responsible for the remaining expenses. Additionally, CBG production is expected to receive a significant boost through increased blending targets exceeding 5%. The Oil Ministry is finalizing a draft proposal in collaboration with other ministries, and discussions among various departments are already in progress, with plans to seek Cabinet approval shortly.
