Consultations by the 8th Central Pay Commission


The 8th Central Pay Commission is gearing up to hold a series of discussions with various unions, associations, and central government entities, commencing with meetings in New Delhi and Pune in the upcoming weeks. Additional sessions are also anticipated in Mumbai and other regions, although specific dates for these gatherings are yet to be announced. To engage in these discussions, organizations must first submit a formal memorandum detailing their recommendations regarding the commission's activities. Only those who complete this prerequisite will be eligible to request a meeting.


According to an official notice dated April 1, 2026, the New Delhi meetings are set for April 28, 29, and 30. The commission has established a clear protocol for interested parties. The communication states: “Unions and associations wishing to engage with the Commission in New Delhi should submit a memorandum via the commission’s website (8cpc.gov.in) and subsequently request an appointment at abhay.sahay@nic.in by April 20, 2026, including a ‘unique memo ID’ generated after the memorandum submission. Details regarding the venue and schedule will be provided later.”


In a separate announcement dated April 11, 2026, the commission confirmed its visit to Pune on May 4 and 5. The letter specifies: “Stakeholders, including central government organizations and unions/associations wishing to interact with the Commission in Pune, should submit a memorandum on the commission’s website (8cpc.gov.in) and then request an appointment at jha.anandkumar@nic.in by April 20, 2026, along with a ‘unique memo ID’ generated after submitting the memorandum. Venue details and meeting schedules will be communicated later.”


The commission has encouraged employee unions and associations to formally submit their recommendations through memorandums. The final date for submission is set for April 30, 2026, which is essential for the discussions during the planned consultations.


Consultant Positions Available with Competitive Pay

In addition to the consultations, the commission has announced openings for consultant positions on a contractual basis. These roles offer a monthly salary of up to Rs 1.80 lakh for full-time positions, with flexible part-time options also available.


An official memorandum released on April 10, 2026, states that eligible candidates can apply online through a specific link provided on the commission’s website. The notice reads: “Candidates interested in being appointed as consultants on a contract basis with the commission should submit their application using the designated form only through the following link [https: / /nicforms]nic.in/ennfrVmiUSlkMzczNmI2YTNlOTIwMjYwNDA2NT]. This link is also accessible on the commission’s website. No physical or email submissions will be accepted.”


Vacancy Breakdown And Eligibility Criteria


The recruitment initiative encompasses various roles across different experience levels. Senior Consultants must have over 10 years of experience and be under 45 years of age, while Consultants require at least 6 years of experience with a maximum age of 40. Young Professionals, who need a minimum of 4 years of experience, must be below 32 years. The age cut-off for all categories is April 1, 2026.
