Following this change, Cook will continue to serve the company as executive chairman.

Introducing John Ternus

John Ternus, currently the Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple Inc., is set to take the reins as CEO. In his existing position, he reports directly to Tim Cook and is responsible for overseeing all hardware engineering initiatives at Apple.

Ternus leads teams that develop some of Apple’s most significant products, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, and Apple Vision Pro. His extensive involvement across various hardware categories positions him as a pivotal figure in the evolution of Apple’s product lineup.

Throughout his career at Apple, Ternus has been instrumental in engineering and enhancing multiple product generations. Prior to his tenure at Apple, Ternus gained valuable experience as a mechanical engineer at Virtual Research Systems, which helped shape his expertise in engineering and product development. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, providing a solid foundation for his career in hardware innovation.
