Honda Launches Its First Electric Bike, the E-VO, in Collaboration with Wuyang
Introduction to the E-VO Electric Bike
Honda has recently introduced its inaugural electric motorcycle, the E-VO, developed in partnership with its local collaborator, Guangzhou. This model is marketed under the Wuyang Honda brand, marking Honda's first foray into electric bikes in collaboration with its Chinese associate.
Battery Variants and Performance
The E-VO will be offered in two battery options: a 4.1 kWh variant and a 6.2 kWh variant. The 4.1 kWh battery is designed to provide a range of up to 120 kilometers, while the bike has a kerb weight of 143 kg. To enhance user convenience, Honda has integrated advanced charging technology, allowing the bike to be charged using a home charger in approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes or a traditional car charger in just 1 hour. The larger 6.2 kWh battery variant boasts a range of 170 kilometers and weighs around 156 kg, with similar charging times.
Innovative Features of the E-VO
The E-VO comes packed with a variety of modern features, including three riding modes (ECO, Normal, and Soft) and a 7-inch TFT display. Additionally, a secondary TFT screen provides information on navigation, music, tire pressure, and battery status. The shorter-range model includes a front dash cam, while the larger battery version adds a rear dash cam. Customers can choose between two color options: Black and White.
Pricing and Market Availability
The pricing for the E-VO starts at approximately CNY 30,000 (around Rs 3.56 lakh) for the 4.1 kWh variant and about CNY 37,000 (approximately Rs 4.39 lakh) for the 6.2 kWh variant. These electric bikes have been specifically designed for the Chinese market in collaboration with Wuyang, and it is unlikely that Honda will introduce the E-VO in India.
