BYD India is gearing up to introduce a new electric SUV, the BYD Atto 3, into the Indian market on July 10th. The car manufacturer aims to create an affordable model that can compete strongly in the electric segment, potentially challenging vehicles like the MG ZS EV.

Introduction of the New Variant

The new variant of the BYD Atto 3 could feature a smaller battery pack to offer a more economical range. Currently, the model available in the market comes with a 60.48 kWh battery pack, claiming a range of 521 kilometers on a single charge. The upcoming entry-level variant might come with a 50 kWh battery pack.

Price Variations Expected

With the launch of the Atto 3's new variant, significant price adjustments are anticipated for the entry-level model. Initially priced starting at ₹33.99 lakh, the introduction of the new variant could potentially lower the cost to between ₹26 to ₹28 lakh.

Range Expectations for the New Variant

Alongside price changes, the introduction of the new entry-level variant might also see adjustments in the car's range capabilities. While the current variant offers a range of around 521 kilometers on a single charge, the new variant could provide a range closer to 450 kilometers.

Powertrain and Features

Changes in the powertrain of the new BYD Atto 3 variant are expected, potentially featuring a front-mounted single electric motor that delivers 201 bhp and generates 310 Nm peak torque. However, the new powertrain might offer reduced output compared to the existing model. Additionally, some features of the car could be scaled down to align with competitive pricing.

Competing Models

The BYD Atto 3 electric car could compete with models like the Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XUV.e8, and Hyundai Creta EV, which are expected to make their debut in the Indian market in 2025. The new electric variant from BYD is scheduled to be unveiled on July 10th, with more details about its specifications and features likely to be revealed during the launch.
