Real Madrid's Attempt to Acquire Julian Alvarez

Madrid [Spain], June 10: Real Madrid has revealed that they proposed a bid of €150 million to Atletico Madrid for the talented forward Julian Alvarez, but the offer was declined.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Real Madrid confirmed that after a meeting of their Board of Directors, they submitted a €150 million offer to Atletico Madrid for the rights to the Argentine player.

Atletico Madrid acknowledged the proposal but ultimately rejected it, citing the player's release clause as the reason for their decision, according to Real Madrid's announcement.

“Real Madrid CF announces that, following today’s Board of Directors meeting, it has made an offer of 150 million euros to Club Atletico de Madrid for the federative rights of the player Julian Alvarez,” the statement noted.

“After careful consideration, Atletico de Madrid expressed gratitude for the offer, which was made in the spirit of the good relations between the two clubs, but they have declined it, referring to the player’s release clause,” the statement continued.

This announcement comes on the heels of Florentino Perez's re-election as president of Real Madrid, where he secured another four-year term in the first contested election in two decades. Prior to the elections, Perez hinted at plans to invest €150 million in an unnamed player, who was expected to be revealed on Tuesday, potentially setting a new record for the club, as reported by various sources.

In the 2025/26 season, Alvarez had an impressive performance, netting 20 goals and providing nine assists in 49 matches for Atletico Madrid.
