Former Indian cricket star Ravichandran Ashwin has recently made headlines with significant news regarding his career. After announcing his retirement from the IPL, Ashwin has received an offer to participate in an overseas T20 league. If everything goes as planned, he could be seen playing in a foreign league by the end of this year. However, he will need to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the BCCI to proceed.

Indeed, during his retirement announcement from the IPL, Ashwin expressed his desire to compete in various T20 leagues. He has been approached by the Australian cricket board to join the Big Bash League (BBL). Should this deal materialize, Ashwin would become the first Indian player to participate in the BBL.

According to reports, Todd Greenberg, the CEO of the Australian cricket board, is making efforts to secure Ashwin's participation in the upcoming BBL season. He reached out to the spinner shortly after Ashwin's retirement announcement last week. If Ashwin joins the Australian league, it would be a significant milestone, as no Indian player has yet participated in this tournament.

Greenberg confirmed his communication with Ashwin and mentioned that discussions regarding a potential deal are ongoing. He expressed optimism about the possibility of Ashwin joining the league, stating, 'Having a player of Ashwin's caliber in the BBL would be fantastic on many levels. He is a champion cricketer who would bring a lot to the Big Bash and our cricket summer.'

BCCI's Decision is Crucial

While Ravichandran Ashwin has shown interest in playing in foreign leagues after retiring from international cricket and the IPL, the path is not straightforward. The decision now lies with the BCCI. Historically, several Indian players have retired from international and IPL cricket, but none have participated in the Big Bash League thus far.
