Mohammed Siraj Rested: Who Steps Up for India in Upcoming T20I Series?
Mohammed Siraj Withdrawn from Upcoming Tours
Mumbai: In a strategic decision for workload management, Mohammed Siraj has been rested, with Prasidh Krishna stepping in as his replacement for the upcoming tours to Ireland and England, as announced by the BCCI on Tuesday.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) characterized this action as a 'precautionary measure' aimed at facilitating Siraj's swift recovery in anticipation of a demanding international season ahead.
Initially included in the squad for the T20I series against Ireland and England, which features two and five matches respectively, Siraj will not participate in the Asian Games set to take place in Japan.
The BCCI confirmed in a statement, 'Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from India’s squads for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England.'
The decision followed consultations between the BCCI Medical Team and Team Management, leading to the recommendation for Siraj to take a rest as part of his workload management strategy.
This choice was made to ensure he has sufficient time to recover before the lengthy international season commences. Prasidh Krishna has been named as Siraj's replacement for both T20I series.
Siraj had recently joined the Indian squad for their last T20I event—the T20 World Cup—and played a significant role in the IPL 2026, featuring in all 17 matches for the Gujarat Titans and claiming 19 wickets.
Additionally, he participated in a one-off Test against Afghanistan, which concluded in just three days on Monday.
