Mariah May's Future in Wrestling: Speculations of a Move to WWE
Mariah May's Absence from AEW Raises Eyebrows

Mariah May's prolonged absence from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) programming has sparked curiosity among fans regarding her current situation. After emerging as a standout performer in 2024, her fame surged during a significant title reign. However, this success may not be sufficient to secure her future with the organization owned by Tony Khan. Speculations suggest that she might be on her way to WWE, which many believe to be her ultimate goal.
As reported by a wrestling insider, there are whispers that Mariah May is eyeing a move to WWE, and those within the company are already aware of her intentions. Nevertheless, her existing contract with AEW could delay any official transition until the summer.
“I know from people in WWE…they know she wants to go there,” the insider stated. “I don’t know when her contract is up, everyone seems to think it’s this summer.”
Contract Details and Future Speculations
Bryan Alvarez corroborated these claims, noting that Mariah May signed a two-year contract with AEW in November 2023. This timeline suggests that her contract may not expire until late 2025. Despite this, there is a prevailing belief among insiders that she is likely to depart from AEW soon.
“I was given the impression it’s a two-year deal that she signed originally, so you can do the math. I have heard the same thing. At least in AEW, there’s a belief she’s heading to WWE,” Alvarez remarked.
The speculation intensified when Mariah May shared an Instagram story featuring a plane window, accompanied by a quote that read, “You can’t make the wrong decision because every decision leads you to where you’re supposed to be.” This post has led many to speculate that she may be contemplating a move to WWE.
AEW's Creative Decisions and Mariah May's Career
In a further update, it was noted that AEW's creative head, Tony Khan, tends to remove talent from television once he learns they are planning to leave, similar to what happened with Saraya earlier this year. This could explain Mariah May's absence from the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and other ongoing storylines. While WWE may not provide the same opportunities as AEW, the chance to work there has always been her aspiration.
Mariah May initially gained recognition through STARDOM before making her AEW debut in November 2023. She quickly formed an alliance with Toni Storm, leading to one of the most memorable rivalries in AEW history. May captured the AEW women's title at All In London in August 2024, holding it for 174 days before losing it back to Storm at February’s Grand Slam Australia.
