Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shines in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with Record Century

Record-Breaking Performances at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

New Delhi, December 2: The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy showcased remarkable performances, highlighted by a stunning century from 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi and a solid ton from Sarfaraz Khan of Mumbai. Other notable contributions came from Hardik Pandya, Shardul Thakur, Devdutt Padikkal, and Abhishek Sharma.

In Kolkata, Suryavanshi made headlines with an impressive unbeaten 108 runs off 61 balls, featuring seven fours and seven sixes. This performance followed a slow start in his previous matches where he scored 14, 13, and 5. His century made him the youngest player to achieve this milestone in the tournament at just 14 years and 250 days, surpassing Maharashtra.

Despite Suryavanshi's remarkable innings, Bihar could not secure a victory as Maharashtra's captain Prithvi Shaw delivered a phenomenal performance, scoring 66 runs off just 30 balls, leading his team to a thrilling three-wicket win with one over remaining.

Hardik Pandya made a triumphant return to competitive cricket, scoring an unbeaten 77 runs from 42 balls, guiding Baroda to a seven-wicket victory over Punjab. His innings included seven fours and four sixes, while he also took one wicket despite conceding 52 runs.

Punjab's innings featured a quick-fire fifty from Abhishek Sharma off 19 balls and Anmolpreet Singh's explosive 69 runs off 32 balls, but it wasn't enough as Baroda chased down the target comfortably.

In another match, Mumbai faced Assam, scoring a formidable 220/4, thanks to Sarfaraz Khan's 100 not out from 47 balls and Ajinkya Rahane's valuable contribution of 32 runs. Shardul Thakur's exceptional bowling performance of 5 wickets for 23 runs helped dismiss Assam for just 120 runs.

The encounter between Jharkhand and Saurashtra saw Ishan Kishan scoring 93 runs off 50 balls, leading his team to 209/8. Saurashtra struggled, getting bowled out for 125 runs, with Anukul Roy taking 3 wickets for 25 runs.

Delhi Cricket faced a historic defeat against Tripura, marking their first loss in domestic cricket history. Despite strong bowling performances from Digvesh Rathi and Suyash Sharma, who each took two wickets, Delhi could only manage 145 runs in their innings.

Indian pace bowler Mohammed Siraj excelled with figures of 1 for 16, helping Hyderabad restrict UP to 127 all out. Tanmay Agarwal's 43 runs off 26 balls led Hyderabad to victory with three wickets remaining.

In Ahmedabad, Devdutt Padikkal's explosive 102 runs off 46 balls propelled Karnataka to 245/3 against Tamil Nadu, who were bowled out for a mere 100 runs in 14.2 overs.

Arjun Tendulkar, recently acquired by Lucknow Super Giants, played a pivotal role in Goa's victory over Madhya Pradesh, taking 3 wickets for 36 runs. Goa successfully chased down the target, winning by seven wickets.
