Kuldeep Yadav Reflects on DRS Challenges Amidst Series Victory Over South Africa
Kuldeep Yadav's Humorous Take on DRS
During India's decisive win against South Africa in the third ODI, left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav humorously acknowledged his struggles with DRS appeals. His light-hearted exchanges with veteran player Rohit Sharma added an entertaining subplot to the match.
While positioned at first slip, Rohit found himself laughing as he intervened multiple times to prevent an overly eager Kuldeep from making animated appeals, which could pressure captain KL Rahul into using the Decision Review System (DRS) on Saturday.
"I clearly struggle with DRS calls. It feels like one DRS is just for me (laughs)," Kuldeep shared in a video released by the BCCI.
"As a bowler, I always believe it's my wicket, it's out. However, Rohit bhai and KL bhai, standing behind the wicket, have a better perspective on whether the ball is missing the stumps, considering height and impact," he explained.
Kuldeep played a crucial role in dismantling South Africa's middle order, claiming four wickets and helping India restrict the opposition to 270 runs, despite their promising start towards a score exceeding 325.
He further noted, "With only two DRS reviews available, it's essential to have teammates around to guide the decision-making process. Otherwise, we risk wasting a review. I must credit them for ensuring we use the DRS wisely and avoid unnecessary losses.
"Rohit bhai consistently checks in with me about my thoughts on the line of the delivery. While I can gauge height, determining line and impact is a significant decision."
