India's Shooting Team Ready for ISSF World Championship

Cairo [Egypt], November 5: The spotlight will be on Paris 2024 medallists Manu Bhaker and Swapnil Kusale as they lead India's 40-member shooting team at the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol 2025, commencing in Cairo this Thursday, as reported by a leading sports outlet.


This prestigious tournament will see 720 shooters from 72 different federations competing at the Egypt International Olympic City, with events running until November 17.


Indian shooters have demonstrated remarkable performance throughout the year in various World Cup events, securing eight medals in Buenos Aires, seven in Lima, four in Munich, and two in Ningbo.


Manu Bhaker, a two-time Olympic medallist, who recently earned a silver in Lima and three bronze medals at the 2025 Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, will lead the Indian pistol squad. She will be accompanied by Esha Singh and Suruchi Singh, both of whom have excelled in the World Cup circuit, with Esha winning three consecutive golds in the women's 10m air pistol event.


In the rifle category, 2022 world champion Rudrankksh Patil will participate in his signature 10m air rifle event, having kicked off the season with a gold medal in Buenos Aires.


Swapnil Kusale, who clinched a bronze at the Paris Olympics last year, aims to enhance his performance as he heads India's efforts in the 50m rifle 3 positions event.


The team also features seasoned shooters like Elavenil Valarivan (women's 10m air rifle), Sift Kaur Samra (women's 50m rifle 3 positions), Arjun Babuta (men's 10m air rifle), Anish Bhanwala (men's 25m pistol), and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar (men's 50m rifle 3 positions).
