India Women's Team Coach Inspires Players Ahead of World Cup Final
A Call to Focus: Coach Amol Muzumdar's Inspiring Message
Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 3: Ahead of the Women's World Cup final against South Africa at DY Patil Stadium, head coach Amol Muzumdar delivered a compelling message to the Indian women's cricket team, urging them to ignore external distractions and focus on crafting their own narrative.
Prior to India's historic 52-run victory, Muzumdar gathered the team for a motivational huddle, emphasizing the importance of remaining insulated from outside influences. His aim was to inspire the Harmanpreet Kaur-led squad to seize the moment and achieve the ultimate glory by lifting the trophy.
"For the next seven hours, we need to shut out all distractions. We will create our own environment and write our own story, free from outside narratives. Let's focus on this bubble and make history together," Muzumdar stated in a video shared by the ICC on Instagram following the match.
In a thrilling final, India set a formidable target of 298/7, thanks to Shafali Verma's explosive 87 runs off 78 balls and Deepti Sharma's quickfire 58. South Africa, despite a valiant effort from captain Laura Wolvaardt, who scored 101 runs off 98 balls, fell short, managing only 246 runs in 45.3 overs. Muzumdar, while not donning the Indian jersey, played a pivotal role as the head coach during this historic achievement.
"I am incredibly proud. It feels surreal, and this achievement is well-deserved. The team has put in immense effort and has made every Indian proud," Muzumdar expressed after the victory.
Reflecting on their journey, he added, "We viewed our previous losses not as failures but as matches where we fell short. We dominated many of those games and faced some challenges. We persevered through the tournament, and now we stand as world champions. This is a significant moment for Indian cricket, and I know the team has worked tirelessly for this success."
