In a recent announcement on X, the Navy expressed their pride, stating, "Gurindervir Singh, Petty Officer of the #IndianNavy, has made history by clocking an impressive 10.09 seconds in the 100m sprint during the 29th National Federation Cup Athletics Championships held in Ranchi."
This outstanding achievement has also secured him a spot in both the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games 2026, as highlighted in their message.
The Navy further praised his dedication and speed, saying, "We salute the spirit, speed, and commitment of our champion sprinter. Fair winds. Fast feet."
In the Navy, the rank of Petty Officer is comparable to a Havildar in the Indian Army, focusing on training, leadership, and the management of junior personnel.
