The match, held at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka, saw Australia lose by 86 runs via the D/L method, marking the end of a remarkable 20-year unbeaten streak against Bangladesh in ODIs on their home turf.
Fielding a makeshift squad led by Josh Inglis due to the absence of key players like captain Pat Cummins and vice-captain Mitchell Marsh, Australia continued to struggle in the ODI format, having recently lost a series to Pakistan 2-1.
Australia's Unique Record Lost
This defeat was particularly notable as it was the first time Australia lost an ODI match to Bangladesh on Bangladeshi soil. Previously, the two teams had clashed six times in Bangladesh since their first encounter in 2006, with Australia winning all six matches (three in 2006 and three in 2011) by a 3-0 margin in each bilateral series.
