New Delhi, June 9: Renowned Indian football icon Bhaichung Bhutia has been appointed to ZEE5's expert panel for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, promising to elevate the viewing experience of this prestigious global event, as stated in a recent press release.

ZEE5 will broadcast several significant FIFA tournaments, including the FIFA Men’s U-17 World Cup (2026-2034), FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup (2026-2034), FIFA U-20 Men’s World Cup (scheduled for 2027, 2029, 2031, and 2033), FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup (2026, 2028, 2030, 2032, and 2034), FIFA Futsal Men’s World Cup (2028 and 2032), FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup (2029 and 2033), FIFA Women’s World Cup (2027), and FIFA Intercontinental Cup (2026-2030), alongside the FIFA World Cup 2026 and 2030, following their acquisition of Indian broadcasting and streaming rights. This initiative aims to broaden ZEE's presence in the football sector, which has traditionally been overshadowed by cricket in India.

Additionally, ZEE has introduced four new sports channels: Unite8 Sports 1, Unite8 Sports 1 HD, Unite8 Sports 2, and Unite8 Sports 2 HD.

Bhutia, celebrated as one of India's finest footballers, has significantly contributed to the sport's popularity in the nation through his exceptional career and leadership.
