AI Video Sparks Political Controversy

A prominent Congress figure recently shared an AI-generated video on social media, depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi serving tea on a red carpet. In this clip, Modi is seen with a kettle and a glass, surrounded by flags from various nations, including India. The audio mimics Modi's voice, calling out for tea.

Ragini Nayak, the Congress leader, posted the video on Instagram, captioning it with a playful, 'Who did this now?' accompanied by a laughing emoji.

The BJP swiftly condemned the video, accusing the Congress party of disrespecting the Prime Minister. In the footage, Modi is portrayed in a light blue coat and black trousers, serving tea at what appears to be an international gathering.

Modi has often recounted his past as a tea seller at a railway station in Gujarat during his youth.

BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala criticized the Congress on social media, stating, 'After Renuka Chowdhary's disrespect towards Parliament and the Shiv Sena, now Ragini Nayak has mocked Prime Minister Modi’s humble beginnings as a chaiwala.'

Previously, during the Bihar elections, the Bihar Congress had faced backlash for another AI-generated video featuring Modi's mother. This 36-second clip, which depicted Modi meeting his mother in a dream, caused significant controversy and led to legal repercussions, resulting in a court order to remove the video from all social media platforms.
