New Delhi: In a heartfelt gesture on Armed Forces Flag Day, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan has donated his entire monthly salary to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, as reported on Sunday.
A delegation from the Ministry of Defence, headed by Sukriti Likhi, Secretary of the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, presented the Armed Forces Flag Day lapel pin to Radhakrishnan at the Vice President Enclave.
The Ministry of Defence shared a message on X, stating, "The Hon'ble Vice-President has also urged all citizens to show their appreciation for our martyrs, disabled soldiers, and their families by contributing to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund voluntarily."
The significance of Flag Day lies in its aim to raise funds through the distribution of small flags to the public. This day holds even more importance as it emphasizes the responsibility of India's civilian population to support the families of those who serve in the military.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude towards the armed forces on this special day, recognizing their dedication to the nation.
In a post on the social media platform X, PM Modi praised the armed forces for their steadfast courage, discipline, and commitment to protecting the nation.
He encouraged donations to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, stating, "On Armed Forces Flag Day, we express our deepest gratitude to the brave men and women who protect our nation with unwavering courage. Their discipline, resolve, and spirit shield our people and strengthen our nation. Let us also contribute to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund."
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also conveyed his greetings to the Indian Armed Forces, commending their bravery and sacrifices for the country.
Since 1949, December 7 has been recognized as Armed Forces Flag Day across the nation to honor the martyrs and soldiers who have fought valiantly to defend the country's honor.
In a post on X, Rajnath Singh remarked, "On Armed Forces Flag Day, I salute the valour and sacrifices of our armed forces. Their courage safeguards our nation, and their selfless service reminds us of a debt we can never repay. I urge everyone to contribute generously to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. Your support honors their dedication and strengthens those who protect us."
