CM Dhami Celebrates Historic Achievement

Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, has praised India's remarkable success at the World Yogasana Championships (WYC) 2026, deeming it a source of national pride. In a message shared on X, he emphasized India's impressive medal tally of 114, which comprised 102 gold, 9 silver, and 3 bronze medals, highlighting the commitment and discipline of the nation's youth.

Dhami stated, "The historic accomplishment of winning 114 medals, including 102 gold, 9 silver, and 3 bronze at the World Yoga Asana Championship 2026 is a point of pride for every citizen. This extraordinary achievement reflects the dedication and discipline of our youth, as well as the global recognition of India's ancient yoga tradition."

He further remarked that this performance showcases India's cultural strength and its leadership role in yoga, which has its roots in the country. "This remarkable performance by India, the birthplace of yoga, reinforces our cultural influence and global leadership. Congratulations to all players, coaches, and organizers for their exceptional efforts at the World Yoga Asana Championship. We believe these yoga champions will continue to elevate the nation's pride in the future," added the Uttarakhand CM.


India's Dominance in the Championships

India concluded its inaugural World Yogasana Championships campaign with a total of 114 medals, including an impressive 102 gold, showcasing their dominance at the EKA Arena on Monday.


Japan secured the second position with a total of three gold, three silver, and five bronze medals, while Argentina claimed third place, thanks to Nabila Barraza, who won two gold and three silver medals.


Nepal emerged as the second most successful team in terms of total medals, achieving 52 medals, which included one gold, 36 silver, and 15 bronze, finishing fifth overall. Uzbekistan followed with 25 medals, comprising one gold, 13 silver, and 11 bronze.


In total, 522 athletes from 79 countries participated in the Championships, with 31 of them earning at least one medal, and ten athletes securing at least one gold medal.
