US President's Optimism on Iran Deal

On Monday, US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that the United States could achieve "total victory" over Iran within a fortnight, highlighting positive developments in the ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran. During a tele-rally supporting South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, Trump asserted that Iranian officials are keen to finalize an agreement and are prepared to make significant concessions. He stated, "We’re negotiating now, and they want to make a very good deal. They’re willing to give us everything, they’re willing to give us no nuclear weapon," emphasizing his belief that the US is gaining the upper hand in its dealings with Tehran.

Trump suggested that a breakthrough might be on the horizon, stating, "I think we are winning that battle, but you’re really going to win it over the next two weeks when we declare total victory. It’ll be a total victory, it’ll happen very soon, and oil prices will come tumbling down.” He also predicted a significant drop in oil prices following a successful resolution of the negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program.

Warnings to Netanyahu

In a related context, Trump cautioned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the risks of ongoing military actions against Iran, suggesting that such actions could lead to Israel becoming increasingly isolated. He indicated that the US is aiming for a long-term peace agreement with Tehran and advised Netanyahu to exercise caution following recent military exchanges between Israel and Iran. Trump recounted, "I said, 'Bibi, you better be careful, or you will be on your own very soon.'" He also mentioned that Israel had provided the US with limited advance notice before conducting strikes on Iran.

Call for Ceasefire

As tensions in the Middle East escalated following a ceasefire, Trump made a direct appeal on his Truth Social platform, urging both Israel and Iran to cease hostilities immediately. He wrote, "Israel and Iran must immediately stop shooting," and noted that both parties are seeking an immediate ceasefire. Trump added, "Final negotiations on 'Peace' are proceeding, subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way. The Blockade will remain in place, and in full force and effect, until a 'Final Deal' is reached. Things should move quickly," indicating a sense of urgency in the negotiations.
