Trump Advocates Cautious Approach in Iran Negotiations
Trump's Strategy on Iran Talks
President Donald Trump has indicated that the U.S. will adopt a more measured stance in its negotiations with Iran, suggesting that there is no urgency to finalize an agreement while current pressure tactics are still in effect. In an interview with ABC News and a subsequent statement on Truth Social, Trump mentioned that he has directed American negotiators to avoid rushing into a deal, despite reports of increased diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran in recent weeks. "I can't discuss the specifics of the deal; it's entirely my decision, and any updates will be positive. I don't engage in poor agreements," Trump stated when questioned about the negotiation status. He elaborated that discussions are moving forward in what he termed an 'orderly and constructive' manner, but stressed that negotiators should not succumb to the pressure for a quick resolution. "I have instructed my representatives to take their time, as we have the advantage of time," Trump wrote. "Both parties need to ensure they get it right. Mistakes are not an option."
