Expansion of Medical Education in Tripura


Agartala, Nov 5: In a significant advancement for medical education in Tripura, the National Medical Commission has granted approval for an additional 50 MBBS seats at the Tripura Medical College (TMC) and Dr. BR Ambedkar Memorial Teaching Hospital located in Agartala.


This new approval raises the total capacity at TMC from 100 to 150 seats, bringing the overall number of MBBS seats in the state to 450.


Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlighted that this development represents a crucial step in Tripura's ongoing initiatives to enhance medical education and improve access to quality healthcare services.


Dr. Saha stated, "This marks a major step forward in Tripura's efforts to expand medical education and improve healthcare access."


He pointed out that over the last three years, Tripura has successfully added 225 MBBS seats, showcasing the State Government's dedication to bolstering its health and education infrastructure.
