Tripura Hosts Historic Golf Tournament as CM Saha Celebrates Growth of the Sport
Tripura's Golf Tournament Marks a Milestone
On Sunday, Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed his excitement regarding the advancement of golf in Tripura during the Tripura Golf Tournament 2025 held at the Tusker BSF Golf Course. After the event, he shared his thoughts, stating that hosting such a tournament was a significant achievement for the state. Saha noted that numerous golfers from outside Tripura participated and collaborated with the local Golf Federation.
"This is a dream come true for us. We've never had a golf event in Tripura before. Hardly any other place in the Northeast has hosted a golf event like this... that too at the BSF Frontier Command IG Headquarters. Many golfers came here from outside, and Tripura also has a Golf Federation, so they all come together and work really well," CM Manik Saha said.
He further mentioned, "Due to the strike and the disruption it caused, many golfers from outside couldn't come. But still, so many people came, so this is very important for us. This will grow further in the coming days. Whatever is needed to strengthen it further, our government will also make efforts."
Gaganjeet Bhullar Achieves Historic Win
In other news, Gaganjeet Bhullar made history by becoming the first player to secure three titles on the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) Tour. He kicked off the week with a round of 1-under 71, which included a remarkable hole-in-one, and followed it up with impressive rounds of 67-67, finishing with a total score of 11-under at the Glade One Resort and Golf Club.
Raghav Chugh, a talented 21-year-old who recently graduated from Rice University, put forth a commendable effort but fell just short, finishing in second place after making three pars on the final holes.
Bhullar, recognized as India's most accomplished player on the Asian Tour with 11 victories, previously won the first two events of the inaugural IGPL season in Chandigarh and Jaypee Greens. After missing several IGPL events due to commitments on the International Series and Asian Tour, he made a strong comeback in Ahmedabad, a city where he had previously triumphed in the European Challenge Tour event, the Gujarat Kensville Challenge, back in 2011.
