Tragic Nightclub Roof Collapse in Dominican Republic Claims Lives and Injures Many

Devastating Incident at Jet Set Nightclub

In a tragic incident early Tuesday morning, a roof collapse at the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, resulted in the deaths of at least 15 individuals and left over 100 others injured, according to local authorities.

Rescue teams are actively searching through the debris for any possible survivors, as stated by Juan Manuel Méndez, the director of the Center of Emergency Operations.

Méndez expressed hope, saying, “We believe that many may still be alive, and our efforts will continue until we ensure that no one is left trapped beneath the rubble.”

Among those injured is renowned merengue artist Rubby Pérez, who was performing at the time of the collapse.

President Luis Abinader took to social media platform X to announce that all rescue services are working diligently to assist those impacted by the disaster.

He expressed his sorrow over the tragedy, stating, “We are closely monitoring the situation as it unfolds.”

Upon arriving at the scene, Abinader comforted distraught individuals searching for their loved ones, many of whom were visibly upset.

An official used a megaphone to urge the large crowd gathered outside the club to allow ambulances to pass, emphasizing the need for cooperation with emergency responders.

At a nearby hospital, an official was seen announcing the names of survivors, while anxious family members gathered, calling out for their relatives.
