Tragic Hit-and-Run Incident in Jaipur Claims Three Lives
Fatal Hit-and-Run in Jaipur
On Monday night, a devastating hit-and-run incident occurred in Jaipur, Rajasthan, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The driver, who was reportedly intoxicated, struck multiple pedestrians in the Nahargarh area. The latest victim has been identified as 48-year-old Virendra Singh, while the earlier casualties include 50-year-old Mamta Kanwar and 37-year-old Awadhesh Pareek. Several others sustained serious injuries, including Mohammad Jalaluddin (44), Monesh Soni (28), Vijay Narayan (65), Deepika Saini (17), Anshika (24), and Zebunnisha (50), all of whom are currently receiving treatment at SMS Hospital, where their conditions remain critical.
Driver Apprehended
The police swiftly apprehended the driver, identified as Usman, within hours of the incident. Usman, who operates an iron bed manufacturing business in Jaipur's VKI area, was driving under the influence when he lost control of his vehicle, leading to the tragic event. Disturbing CCTV footage of the incident has circulated widely on social media, shocking viewers with the driver's reckless behavior.
Call for Justice
Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, has publicly condemned the incident, calling for stringent action against the driver. In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Gehlot expressed his sorrow over the loss of life and emphasized the need for the perpetrator to face serious legal consequences. He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished for the injured to receive appropriate medical care and a swift recovery.
Government Support for Victims' Families
In response to this tragic event, the government has pledged financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh to the families of each deceased victim. Additionally, the registration and license of the driver's vehicle will be revoked, following directives from RTO Rajendra Shekhawat.
