Prime Minister Modi Responds to Goa Nightclub Fire Incident
Following a devastating fire at a nightclub in Goa that resulted in the deaths of 23 individuals, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. On the social media platform 'X', Modi expressed his sorrow, stating, 'The incident of the fire in Arpora, Goa, is extremely tragic. My heartfelt condolences go out to all those who have lost their loved ones. I wish for the swift recovery of the injured.'
He further mentioned, 'I have spoken with Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant regarding the situation. The state government is providing all possible assistance to those affected.'
According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, each family of the deceased will receive a compensation of two lakh rupees from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF), while the injured will be granted 50,000 rupees.
The fire broke out at a nightclub named 'Barch by Romeo Lane' shortly after midnight on Saturday. This establishment is located in Arpora, approximately 25 kilometers from the state capital, Panaji.
Chief Minister Sawant reported that most of the deceased were employees working in the club's kitchen. He noted that among the victims were three women and 'three to four tourists.' He informed reporters that three of the 23 fatalities were due to burns, while the others succumbed to smoke inhalation.
