Criticism of the Opposition Alliance
On June 9, Sanjay Kumar Jha, a Member of Parliament and National Executive President of the Janata Dal (United), expressed his disapproval of the opposition coalition known as 'India'. He claimed that the alliance is dominated by leaders pursuing personal interests and lacks a national agenda. Speaking in Patna, Bihar, Jha emphasized that the coalition's sole purpose is to oppose the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Disunity Among Coalition Members
While addressing journalists, Jha remarked that the India coalition is not a true alliance, as its members often speak against and fight with each other. He pointed out that the DMK party was once part of this coalition, but questioned its current status. Jha asserted that the coalition is filled with personal agendas and has been rejected by the public, lacking any significant agenda for the country.
Recent Meeting of Opposition Leaders
On June 8, parties within the India bloc convened a meeting with leaders from 23 opposition parties to discuss the economic situation and other pressing issues affecting the public. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced that consensus was reached on five key points requiring immediate action. He revealed that the leaders decided to collectively write to the Chief Justice of India regarding special amendments to voter lists, vote manipulation, and electoral fraud, with plans to submit this letter soon to seek judicial intervention.
Call for Bipartisan Meeting
The India coalition has urged the central government to convene a bipartisan meeting as soon as possible to address serious economic challenges, including unemployment, inflation, farmers' issues, and atrocities against marginalized groups, which require immediate policy measures.
