Rajasthan Rape Case: Court Proceedings Underway for Minor Victims
Rajasthan Rape Case Update
Rajasthan Crime: The disturbing case involving the sexual assault of minor girls in Bijaynagar, Rajasthan, has garnered significant media attention. This comes as a reminder of a similar incident that occurred in Dhariavad three years ago, with a verdict from the POCSO court anticipated soon.
In the earlier case, seven perpetrators lured the victim to a remote location where they took turns assaulting her while recording the act. Despite her pleas to stop filming, they continued to inflict harm, with each assailant committing the crime multiple times.
During the assault, one individual kept watch for approaching vehicles, another filmed the incident, while others restrained and assaulted the girl. They threatened to release the video if she reported the crime, instilling fear that prevented many from coming forward. Eventually, two victims filed a police report after being persuaded by the Superintendent of Police.
Reports indicate that the assailants formed a gang for illicit activities, with some posing as vegetable vendors or laborers by day, and engaging in criminal behavior at night, including robbery and sexual assault.
After committing the assaults, they would abandon their victims a few kilometers from their homes. Among the accused, two are siblings, Pushkar and Deepak, who also have young daughters. The other suspects include Deepak Keer, Umesh Keer, Irfan, Prakash Meena, and Jamuna Shankar Meena.
The case is currently in the final stages of hearing, with Special Public Prosecutor Tarun Das Bairagi representing the prosecution. He has submitted over 135 pieces of evidence to the court. The High Court has denied bail to the accused, and the judge was visibly moved by the victims' testimonies.
The prosecution has concluded its arguments in the POCSO court, presenting more than 145 documents and witnesses. The next step involves recording the statements of the accused, with proceedings taking place under Judge Dr. Prabhat Agarwal. The assaults were documented on mobile devices.
