Congress's Commitment to Improving Lives
New Delhi: On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition, highlighted the various recommendations made by Congress-led standing committees aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Indians. He emphasized that despite being in the Opposition, the Congress party remains committed to utilizing every democratic avenue to advocate for the rights and welfare of the populace.
During the Budget session of Parliament, Gandhi noted that the Agriculture Committee, under the leadership of Charanjit Singh Channi, reiterated its demand for a legal Minimum Support Price (MSP) and proposed additional compensation for stubble collection, alongside essential protections for farmers and fishermen.
He also mentioned that the Rural Development Committee, led by Saptagiri Ulaka, pushed for the expansion and fortification of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), advocating for the elimination of unnecessary barriers.

The Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sports Committee, led by Digvijaya Singh, advocated for the recruitment of more educators, reforms to prevent paper leaks, and timely honorariums for Anganwadi workers.
Additionally, the External Affairs Committee, chaired by Shashi Tharoor, stressed the importance of implementing safeguards for Indian migrant workers overseas.
Gandhi concluded by stating, "These are just a few examples of the Congress Party's dedication to the welfare of the people. Even in our role as the Opposition, we will persist in utilizing every democratic institution to champion the rights and well-being of India's citizens."
