Rahul Gandhi Accuses BJP of Electoral Fraud in Haryana
Allegations of Voter Irregularities
On Wednesday, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi launched a fresh attack on the BJP regarding alleged electoral irregularities in Haryana. He made a sensational claim that a 'Brazilian model' was reportedly voting under various names such as 'Seema' and 'Sweety' in the state's voter list. This assertion was part of his new 'H-Bomb' revelations about Haryana. During a press conference, Gandhi stated, 'Congress lost the election by 22,000 votes. Who is this woman?... She votes 22 times at 10 different booths in Haryana. She has multiple names. This indicates a centralized operation. This woman is a Brazilian model. She is one of 2.5 million records in Haryana...'
Claims of Fake Votes
With '100 percent evidence', Gandhi alleged that 2.5 million fraudulent votes, accounting for nearly 12 percent of the state's electorate, were cast. He accused the BJP of orchestrating a 'planned manipulation' to turn a potential Congress victory into a loss. However, sources from the Election Commission dismissed Gandhi's claims, stating that no appeals had been filed against the state's voter list. They further noted that only 22 election petitions are currently pending in the Punjab and Haryana High Court out of 90 assembly seats, indicating limited legal challenges to the results.
Details of the Allegations
In a press conference held in Delhi, Gandhi remarked, 'Haryana has 20 million voters, and among them, 2.5 million are fake.' He added that his team had identified 521,000 voter entries as suspicious. 'One in every eight voters in Haryana is fraudulent,' he claimed. The Congress leader presented slides showing discrepancies in the voter list, including a shocking example where a Brazilian model's image allegedly appeared multiple times under different names, purportedly voting 22 times. Gandhi accused the BJP of running a 'planned campaign' to undermine the democratic process.
Concerns Over Election Integrity
'All exit polls indicated a Congress victory in Haryana,' he noted. 'For the first time in Haryana's history, postal ballots did not match actual votes. This has never happened before. A scheme was devised to convert a significant Congress win into a loss.' He also targeted Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Saini, referencing a post-election video. Gandhi urged observers to note Saini's smile and the 'system' he referred to, occurring just two days after the election when everyone believed Congress was winning decisively.
Further Allegations of Voter Registration Issues
Gandhi alleged that thousands of BJP workers and leaders were registered to vote in both Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. He claimed, 'The vice-chairman of the Palwal district council, residing at house number 150, has 66 voters registered at his address. One house has 500 voters registered.' He named other individuals, asserting that BJP leader Dalchand was voting in both states, as was BJP sarpanch Prahlad in Mathura. He highlighted irregularities linked to addresses listed as 'house number zero' for homeless individuals, stating, 'We found some people marked as house number zero who were actually living in their homes.'
Questioning the Election Commission
Supporting his allegations with verified data, the Gandhi heir stated that he was 'not only questioning the Election Commission but also the democratic process.' He reiterated his claim that the Election Commission and the BJP were colluding. 'Why isn't the Election Commission removing fake voters? If they do, fair elections won't be possible. The Election Commission does not want fair elections. This is clear evidence of what the BJP is doing - and the Election Commission is aiding them.'
