PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana: 19th Installment Released for Farmers
Launch of the 19th PM-KISAN Installment
On February 24, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the release of the 19th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN). A total of ₹22,000 crore was distributed to 9.8 crore farmers, which includes 2.41 crore women beneficiaries, through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Financial Support Provided by PM-KISAN
Farmers eligible for this initiative receive ₹2000 every four months, amounting to ₹6000 annually, disbursed in three installments.
Anticipated Release of the 20th Installment
The 20th installment is projected to be credited in June 2025, marking the second installment for the year, with another expected in October 2025. However, the government has not yet confirmed the specific date for this release.
Advantages of the PM Kisan Scheme
This financial aid assists farmers in various ways:
- Acquiring quality seeds, fertilizers, and other essential agricultural supplies.
- Managing household expenses effectively.
- Supporting small and marginal farmers in fulfilling their financial obligations.
To date, around ₹3.5 lakh crore has been distributed across 18 installments, benefiting nearly 11 crore farming families.
Eligibility Criteria for PM-KISAN
Farmers who wish to benefit from this scheme must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a citizen of India.
- Should possess agricultural land.
- A family unit is defined as a joint family (husband, wife, and minor children).
Steps to Register for PM-KISAN
Farmers interested in applying can follow these steps:
- Access the official PM Kisan Portal – https://pmkisan.gov.in.
- Select the 'New Farmer Registration' option.
- Fill in the required information, including name, age, gender, and category (SC/ST).
- Provide Aadhaar number, bank account details, IFSC code, and mobile number.
Mandatory e-KYC Process
To avail of the benefits under this scheme, completing the e-KYC process is essential. This can be accomplished in three ways:
- OTP-based KYC: By using an OTP sent to the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
- Biometric KYC: By visiting a Common Service Center (CSC).
- Face Authentication: Available via the PM Kisan Mobile App, which does not require OTP or fingerprint verification.
