Odisha Celebrates Heritage with a Grand Marathon During Odia Pakhya Festivities
A Vibrant Celebration in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: In celebration of the ongoing 'Odia Pakhya' (fortnight), the Odisha government hosted a marathon in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, attracting participants from various backgrounds.
The race commenced at the historic Khandagiri caves and concluded at Kalinga Studio square, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic individuals, including youth, cultural advocates, and notable figures.
Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, senior politician Priyadarshi Mishra, Jagannath Pradhan, and celebrated actor Sabyasachi Mishra were present at the event.
Suryabanshi Suraj, the Minister for Higher Education, Sports & Youth Services, and Odia Language, Literature & Culture, remarked, "This lively celebration reinforces our dedication to safeguarding and promoting our historical sites. The rich legacy of Odisha's art, heritage, architecture, and traditions is not only a source of pride but also a testament to our illustrious past and a beacon for future generations."
As part of the fifth day of the Odia Pakhya festivities, the 'Aitihya Ganadouda' (Guest Marathon) not only encouraged fitness and unity but also paid homage to Odisha's enduring heritage.
The event was further enlivened by cultural performances, traditional Odia dishes, and community interactions. Participants captured selfies at the picturesque Khandagiri site, sharing them on the official Odia Pakhya website to celebrate the region's cultural richness.
Similar marathon events were held across all 30 district headquarters in the state.
