No Plans to Shift IPL Matches from Bengaluru: DK Shivakumar

Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, has confirmed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches will remain at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium. He stated that all IPL 2026 games are scheduled to take place at this venue. Shivakumar made these remarks at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday after participating in the KSCA elections.

In response to concerns regarding the potential relocation of significant matches, including IPL games, following the unfortunate incident during the RCB celebrations, he emphasized, "This is about honoring the state of Karnataka and Bengaluru. We will ensure that the upcoming IPL matches are hosted here."

Regarding the Women's T20 World Cup matches, he mentioned, "We will accommodate any matches that come our way in the near future."

On his participation in the KSCA elections, he shared, "I am a KSCA member. I received my membership from Nagaraj when I was younger. His son is my classmate. I am acquainted with many individuals, including Brijesh Patel, Anil Kumble, and Prasanna. I voted for my preferred candidates."

"As a cricket enthusiast, I assure that we will prevent any recurrence of the recent tragedy and maintain the stadium's dignity. We will enhance the stadium by managing crowds within legal limits. Additionally, plans are underway to construct a larger stadium as an alternative," he added.

IPL 2026 Auction and RCB Squad Update

The IPL 2026 auction is scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi, marking the third consecutive year the event will be held internationally. Unlike previous mega auctions, this year's edition will be a mini auction, completed in a single day.

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have released England all-rounder Liam Livingstone ahead of the auction. Alongside Livingstone, South African fast bowler Lungi Ngidi, who mainly served as a reserve, has also been let go. Other overseas players departing from M Chinnaswamy Stadium include New Zealand's Tim Seifert and Zimbabwe's Blessing Muzarabani.

Yash Dayal, who led RCB's bowling attack with his left-arm pace, has been retained for the 19th season of the lucrative league. Dayal has not participated in any cricket since the title victory on June 3. Following the celebrated final, the 27-year-old faced legal issues after being accused of exploitation under the guise of marriage by a woman from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in late June. Additionally, opening batter Mayank Agarwal, who was signed as a replacement for the injured Devdutt Padikkal, has also been released.

Promising talent Swastik Chikara departs Bengaluru without having played a match.
