Mamata Banerjee's Meeting with Sonia Gandhi

On Tuesday evening, Mamata Banerjee, the president of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and former Chief Minister of West Bengal, is set to meet Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, at her residence located at 10 Janpath in New Delhi. According to sources, this meeting is expected to take place around 4 PM. This encounter follows a significant gathering of senior leaders from the INDIA bloc, who convened in the national capital to deliberate on various political and national issues.


Both Sonia Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee were present at this crucial meeting attended by representatives from 25 political parties. They were seen sharing the stage alongside other prominent opposition leaders.


TMC's Social Media Post

A post on the Trinamool Congress's social media account expressed, "The smile conveyed what words could not... a bond strengthened by decades of dedication to the nation. Our honorable president is in Delhi with Sonia Gandhi." Mamata Banerjee's tenure as Chief Minister ended following the TMC's defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections.


Discussion on Key Issues

During the INDIA bloc meeting, various pressing issues were discussed, including alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations, voter list revisions, unemployment, and inflation.


Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who chaired the meeting, announced that the coalition unanimously decided to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged irregularities affecting students in the NEET and CBSE exams. The opposition alliance also resolved to write to the Chief Justice of India regarding concerns over special intensive revisions of voter lists and alleged electoral malpractices. Prominent opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, participated in the meeting. The INDIA bloc also announced plans for regular meetings every two months, with the next one scheduled for August 8.
