Jaipur Veterans Honors Run

Army's Jaipur Marathon: Jaipur. On Sunday, the Indian Army hosted the grand 'Jaipur Veterans Honors Run' in Jaipur. The marathon transformed JLN Marg into a bustling venue, with barricades and traffic diversions halting the city's usual pace. Thousands participated enthusiastically in the chilly weather, honoring the army and remembering the martyrs.


Start of the Marathon and Winners
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma flagged off the 21.1-kilometer half marathon from Albert Hall (Ram Niwas Bagh) at 6 AM. Following that, the 10 km run commenced at 7 AM, and the 5 km run started at 7:15 AM. In the 21 km category, Indian Army soldier Dharmendra Poonia secured first place, completing the distance in just 1 hour, 3 minutes, and 10 seconds. Poonia shared that he trains at the Army Sports Institute in Pune and expressed immense joy over his victory.


This run was organized in three categories on JLN Marg: 21.1 km: cut-off 3 hours 15 minutes


10 km: cut-off 1 hour 45 minutes


5 km: no cut-off


Participants of all ages joined, including youth, seniors, and women. Buses were diverted from the Sindhi Camp bus stand for the event, while heavy vehicles on the Delhi-Agra route were redirected to alternative paths. The traffic police urged the public to use parallel roads.


64-Year-Old Veteran's Spirit
The determination of 64-year-old retired Subedar Ladu Singh was remarkable. Despite undergoing surgery three months ago, he participated in the 5 km run, finishing it in 24 minutes. Singh stated that he never shies away from challenges in honor of the army.


CM's Address: Dedicated to Martyrs
In his address, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed, “It is our privilege to have former Navy Chief Manvendra Singh with us today. The enthusiasm of so many youths in this cold weather reflects respect for the army. This Honors Run is dedicated to the immortal martyrs who sacrificed everything for our motherland.” The CM congratulated all participants and saluted the spirit of the army. This event not only promotes fitness but also strengthens the sentiment of respect for the army and martyrs. The residents of Jaipur contributed significantly to making it memorable.
