Indonesia's Elite Shooters Train in India for Upcoming Competitions
India's Rising Status in Shooting Sports
Highlighting India's emergence as a premier location for elite shooting training, the Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation (GNSPF) recently welcomed a 16-member shooting team from Indonesia, along with two coaches, for an intensive three-month high-performance training camp held at its facilities in Pune and Hyderabad.
Training Camp Details
Running from February 15 to May 15, 2026, the camp featured top Indonesian shooters, including Olympians Diaz Kusumawardani, who participated in the London 2012 Olympics, and Vidya Rafika Rahmattan Toyyiba, who competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The group also included athletes vying for spots on the Indonesian team for the upcoming Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
Comprehensive Training and Support
Throughout their training, the Indonesian athletes worked alongside India's top shooters, gaining invaluable experience in high-performance settings. They had access to state-of-the-art facilities, specialized sports science support, advanced performance analysis tools like SCATT systems, and a skilled coaching team.
Competitive Experience Gained
The Indonesian team also took part in the Khelo India Shooting Championship (KSSM) - 24th Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial Shooting Championship, a prestigious domestic event that drew numerous competitors and offered the athletes essential match experience against formidable opponents.
A Thriving Sports Ecosystem
Reflecting on the successful camp, Gagan Narang, the founder of GNSPF, stated, "Hosting the Indonesian shooting team has been an honor. High-performance sports flourish through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and exposure to diverse training environments. We were thrilled to offer our facilities, coaching expertise, and competitive opportunities. The choice of international athletes to train at our centers underscores the robust ecosystem we have developed over the years. Such exchanges not only benefit visiting athletes but also enhance the skills of our Indian shooters, fostering a culture of excellence and ongoing learning. We are eager to strengthen this partnership and welcome more international athletes in the future."
Looking Ahead
Encouraged by the positive results of this program, both the Indonesian Shooting Association and the Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation are eager to explore further training camps and collaborative projects in the future.
