Income Tax Awareness Initiative in Dalhousie

To enhance understanding of the significance of income tax and foster a responsible tax culture among the youth, the Income Tax Department in Dalhousie hosted an Income Tax Awareness Programme at DAV College, Banikhet on November 4, 2025.
The event was conducted under the leadership of Shalini Bhargava Kaushal, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-I, Chandigarh, alongside Sridhar Dora, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Shimla Range. Representatives from the Dalhousie office, including Income Tax Officer Vineet Kumar, Inspector Ankit Malik, and Tax Assistants Rajesh Sharma, Shobhit Chawla, Pankaj Kumar, and Rajiv Tandon, engaged with students and faculty.
During the session, officials highlighted the critical role of timely and honest tax payments in fostering national economic growth. They also introduced students to the operational framework of the Income Tax Department, urging them to recognize their future responsibilities as engaged citizens.
In response to student inquiries, Vineet Kumar emphasized that the initiative seeks to cultivate a positive tax culture among the youth, who are the future of the nation. He stated, “Instilling awareness at a young age is essential for nurturing responsible citizens who will contribute to the country’s advancement.”
As part of the Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, department officials also led students and teachers in taking the Integrity Pledge, reinforcing their dedication to transparency and integrity.
The representatives expressed their appreciation to Dr. Ranju Bala Patial, Principal of DAV College-Banikhet, along with faculty members Sarika Berry, Nandini, Naresh Kumar, and Arvind, as well as the students and staff for their active participation and support.
Officials noted that the Income Tax Department regularly conducts such awareness initiatives and plans to continue organizing similar sessions in various educational institutions throughout the Chamba district to enhance tax awareness among students.
