BJP's Debangshu Panda Achieves Landmark Win
In a remarkable turn of events, Debangshu Panda, the candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has made history by winning the Falta assembly seat in West Bengal with an impressive margin of 109,021 votes. Panda secured a total of 149,666 votes in this election.
In contrast, the runner-up, Shambhunath Kurmi from the CPI(M), garnered 40,645 votes, while the Congress candidate, Abdurrazak Molla, received only 10,084 votes. Following this record-breaking victory, BJP workers and supporters celebrated enthusiastically.
TMC Candidate Withdraws from Race
It is noteworthy that the re-election for the Falta seat took place on May 21. Initially, the main contest was expected to be between BJP's Debangshu Panda and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Jahangir Khan. However, just before the election date, Jahangir Khan withdrew from the race. Consequently, only five candidates remained in the fray, with Panda facing a direct challenge from CPI(M)'s Shambhunath Kurmi.
High Voter Turnout Recorded
The re-election on May 21 witnessed a significant turnout, with a remarkable 86.11 percent voter participation. In comparison, during the 2021 assembly elections, TMC's Shankar Kumar Naskar had emerged victorious in this constituency, but this time, the BJP has taken control with a substantial lead.
