Deadly Clash in Manipur: Four Militants Neutralized in Churachandpur
Militant Encounter in Churachandpur District
Imphal Churachandpur: In a significant operation, security forces eliminated four militants affiliated with a banned organization during an encounter in Churachandpur district of Manipur on Tuesday morning, according to police reports.
The operation commenced around 5:30 AM in Khanpi village, following intelligence regarding the presence of armed members of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA), a group not recognized under the Suspension of Operations agreement involving the central and state governments along with Kuki and Zomi militant factions.
A fierce gunfight ensued between the army and the militants, resulting in the death of four insurgents, while several others managed to escape, as confirmed by a senior officer who noted that the identities of the deceased militants are still being verified.
A defense statement indicated that early on November 4, militants initiated unprovoked gunfire against an army unit during an intelligence-led operation in Khanpi village, located approximately 80 kilometers west of Churachandpur.
The firefight led to the neutralization of four members of the UKNA, which is classified as a non-SOO insurgent group. The operation is ongoing, with searches being conducted in surrounding areas.
