Arrest of Cricket Coach in Varanasi
In Varanasi, a cricket coach has been apprehended by the police for allegedly committing sexual offenses against two underage boys under the pretense of selecting them for a cricket team. Authorities confirmed the arrest.
Assistant Police Commissioner Gaurav Kumar reported on Sunday that the coach, identified as Murarilal (45), was taken into custody on Saturday for the alleged sexual assault of two boys aged 14 and 15. According to Kumar, the boys had been visiting the coach for practice sessions.
The coach reportedly exploited one boy by promising him a spot in the Under-14 team in Lucknow, using the guise of a medical check-up to carry out the assault. Subsequently, he engaged in sexual acts with the second boy over a span of three days. The situation escalated when one boy's health deteriorated, prompting his mother to admit him to a private hospital, where he disclosed the incidents to the medical staff.
The Assistant Police Commissioner further revealed that the accused's wife divorced him approximately five years ago due to his inappropriate behavior. Murarilal had previously been arrested in 2021 for a similar case involving the sexual assault of children under the pretext of enrolling them in a central school. Following a complaint from the boys' families, a case was registered against him, leading to his arrest.
